The History of Sunrise Fiberglass, LLC

It all started in a livestock barn in Wyoming, Minnesota in 1968, when founder, Chester Rieck, purchased the assets and customer list of Central Plastics of North St. Paul and renamed the company Sunrise Fiberglass Corp. He set up shop in the barn, and with just three employees Sunrise Fiberglass quickly gained a reputation for innovative design, expert craftsmanship, quality product, and above and beyond customer service, trademarks of Sunrise Fiberglass to this day.

The Early Days

Early on, Sunrise Fiberglass honed its craft by designing and manufacturing such parts as machine guards, shields, cab components for industrial and agricultural equipment, even parts for the recreational industry. In 1970, Sunrise Fiberglass expanded operations by leasing an additional 3,500 square foot facility in Wyoming, MN, and adding four employees. An expanding customer base and production requirements dictated a facility consolidation and relocation in 1974. A move was made to a new 12,000 square foot facility, located in Wyoming’s Industrial Park.

Leaders of Industry

By this time, Sunrise Fiberglass had become leaders in the fiberglass industry and served the specific need for quality fiberglass products in virtually every field application. In 1992, Sunrise added a field application: Luge design and manufacturing. The 1992 United States Olympic Luge Team hired Sunrise, in coordination with 3M, to design and produce the first-ever American-made fiberglass luge sleds.

New Facility

In 1999, facing production requirements and space limitations, Sunrise purchased and extensively remodeled a 54,000 square foot building to create a state of the art manufacturing facility in the Wyoming Industrial Park. The new facility was completed in September 2000.

Sunrise Fiberglass, LLC.

In 2012 Sunrise Fiberglass Corp. became Sunrise Fiberglass, LLC. Since the acquisition, many capital investments
have been made in engineering, enterprise requirements, planning systems, and automation. The latest investments enable Sunrise to work with customers from the initial design utilizing CAD Systems. We now perform design for manufacturability (DFM) and offer pattern options which can go directly to CNC machining. This process provides the most consistent dimensional fit possible.

A Reputation of Quality

In 2017 North Central Equity LLC (“North Central”) acquired Sunrise Fiberglass LLC.  “I am excited about this acquisition and proud to add this business to our family of companies,” said Elam Baer, the CEO of North Central Equity. “Sunrise Fiberglass, with over fifty years of history in the industry, has a well-deserved reputation for producing high quality custom fiberglass products.
